Meditation Instruction

Zen has always been a mentor-based path.  It can be very helpful to consult with a spiritual friend along the way.  For that reason, Louisville Zen Center regularly offers beginning and continuing meditation instruction to address practice-related questions and other matters as they arise.

Those new to Zen meditation, wanting a refresher, or new to practicing with Louisville Zen Center are advised to attend the Introduction to Zen Meditation at our location in Unity of Louisville at 757 South Brook Street.  Afterwards you may participate in many of the Center's  sittings, retreats, other activities, and events at any location.

For continuing meditation questions, group instruction is recommended.  Group instruction is individualized instruction and guidance in a group setting.  During group instruction, participants may ask anything at all - about the Zen Center, meditation posture, breath practice, first-koan practice, mindfulness in everyday affairs, even personal matters are o.k.  Those who have attended the Introduction to Zen Meditation (or equivalent) may participate.

For matters too complex, time-consuming, or personal for group instruction, individual advising is suggested. Those who have attended the Introduction  to Zen Meditation (or equivalent) and group instruction may schedule an advising appointment.
